Mary Jean Jergenson is a Registered Nurse and the Education Coordinator at the Cumberland Memorial Hospital and Extended Care Unit, Inc. in Cumberland, Wisconsin. She has planned and directed nurse and patient/family education in this rural community health care facility for nine years. She coordinates patient/family and community health education activities. She also plans and implements orientation programs, competency assessment, and continuing education for 150 staff members in nursing services. Other professional experiences include Associate Degree Nursing Instructor for Wisconsin Indianhead Technical College. As a classroom and clinical instructor she developed, presented and evaluated curriculum in the ADN program. Other nursing experiences include staff nursing in medical-surgical settings and public health nursing. Her graduate work focused on education with research on compliance and health beliefs of individuals with high blood pressure in a rural community. She is active in school, church and community activities.
