Cameron Walks Away with the Barron County 10,000 Steps Trophy

Barron County residents have been taking steps to better health the past six weeks during the 10,000 Steps Challenge. Participants wore step counters (pedometers) to track daily step totals, striving to either add 2000 extra steps to their daily activities or achieve a total of 10,000 steps per day. To increase the fun and motivation, a competitive angle was added to see which Barron County community would have the highest percentage of participants to meet one or both of the goals. Cameron “stepped up to the challenge” and won the trophy with 33% of participants logging 10,000 steps per day or taking 2000 extra steps by the end of the six weeks.
Though Cameron took the title, all participants went the extra mile - 45,210 miles to be exact. This is almost the distance around the world at the equator – twice! All of that activity can add up to better health and more energy, the best “prize” of all!
The Barron County 10,000 Steps Challenge was sponsored by Healthier Cumberland, Barron County Health Department, Lakeview Medical Center, Cumberland Memorial Hospital, and Luther Midelfort Northland.
