Family Bike Day to be held on June 16th at Hustad's Sugarbush

Fun, freedom, fresh air, and fitness:  riding a bike is a healthy activity that we never outgrow and a great way to spend time with family and friends.  With beautiful scenery featuring lakes, forests, and farmland, the Cumberland area is an exceptional location for unforgettable rides.  Because of this, Healthier Cumberland has partnered with Kinship of Cumberland and Turtle Lake to sponsor a free family bike day.  This event will begin from Hustad’s Sugarbush at 9 am on Saturday, June 16th.  People of all ages and cycling abilities are welcome.  The only things you need are a bike and a helmet.

Four different routes will depart from Hustad’s at approximately 9:15 am.  The Kids’ Route is about 2 miles in length, with very easy terrain.  The Youth Loop is an 8 mile route that features views of Vermillion Lake.  If you’d like more of a challenge, consider the Intermediate Loop.  This 18 mile route will take most cyclists about two hours to complete.  The truly adventurous may want to try the 32 mile Long Loop.  All cyclists will be treated to a free maple syrup sundae compliments of Hustad’s Sugarbush.

Remember, all cyclists must wear a helmet.  A limited number of youth and adult helmets will be available for a small fee through the Kinship office in advance of the Family Bike Day. Call Kinship at 822-5553 by June 11th for details.  Financial assistance is available.

Hustad’s Sugarbush is located off of Highway 48 at 2165 11 ½ St. east of Cumberland.  For more information about this event, call Jeanette at 419-0774.
