Healthier Cumberland to sponsor Healthy Eating series, starting with
The American Diet: Legal or Lethal? on March 5th

Healthy eating can seem impossible in the fast-paced, fast food world we live in. Confusing nutrition advice in the media can leave us wondering what healthy eating really means. A two part community series on healthy eating will begin on Wednesday, March 5th at 4:15 pm in the Cumberland Elementary School library with a presentation called The American Diet: Legal or Lethal?. Bonnie Brost, registered dietitian from St. Mary’s Duluth Clinic Heart Center, will present information on the American diet and how a few simple changes can improve the health of both adults and children. Ms. Brost has more than 25 years of experience in dietetics. She is also a certified diabetes educator and a certified exercise specialist who enjoys assisting people in making smarter food choices to improve their weight, cholesterol, blood pressure, blood sugars and overall health.

The Healthy Eating series is sponsored by Healthier Cumberland. Session two will be held on Thursday, April 3rd at 6:30 pm in the Cumberland Clinic and Hospital front lobby and will focus on healthy menu planning. Marla Prytz, Registered Dietitian from the Barron County Public Health Department, will present tips and tools to help you create healthy menus for your household. There is no charge to attend these programs, and individuals can choose to attend one or both of the presentations. National Honor Society volunteers will provide free child care in the Elementary Commons during the March 5th session. Healthier Cumberland is funded by the Healthier Wisconsin Partnership Program, a component of the Advancing a Healthier Wisconsin endowment at the Medical College of Wisconsin.
