Adolescence is a critical time in the establishment of health behaviors. The summer healthy lifestyle program will use hands-on experiences, small group discussion, and health coaching activities to help teens adopt healthier eating patterns and increased levels of physical activity. Participants will reduce risk factors for health problems during adulthood, such as heart disease and diabetes, and will feel empowered to set and achieve goals in all areas of life. This program is free and open to students between the ages of 14 and 18. Group sizes will be small, with males and females in separate sessions. Classes will be held at the Cumberland High School but are also open to students in surrounding districts. For more information about the program, call Cumberland High School Guidance Counselor Kate Koehler at 822-5104 or Healthier Cumberland Project Director Jeanette Olsen at 419-0774. |
