Movin' and Munchin' at CES

Cumberland Elementary students learned about nutrition as they rotated through three interactive stations as part of the school's Movin' and Munchin' program on March 17th. The sessions were led by Healthier Cumberland staff and WITC student nurses. Students learned how to read food labels and observed the different amounts of fat in various types of milk at the station called "The Mystery of Moo Juice". They were also able to try skim and 1% milk.  Food samples were used to create balanced lunches with fruits and vegetables at the "What's Missing for Lunch" session. The "Snackin Time" station featured a discussion on the differences between healthy and unhealthy snack choices. Students were also able to make and eat their own "Stellar Sundae" healthy snack. Movin' and Munchin' is a 10-week program that was organized, planned, and implemented by Cumberland Elementary staff to promote healthy habits among students and families.
