Don’t let extra pounds keep you warm this winter… |
The cold weather and short days of winter leave many people sitting inside, eating too much, and exercising too little. However, maintaining an active lifestyle through the winter months has many health benefits. It can help avoid winter weight gain, relieve stress, minimize the winter blues, and boost the immune system. Healthier Cumberland will be hosting a free Winter Fitness Expo on November 1st at the Cumberland Middle School to provide information and demonstrations of the many winter fitness options available in the Cumberland area. While many people look forward to outdoor winter activities, others have limited options due to cold intolerance or fear of falling of icy sidewalks. The Winter Fitness Expo will feature displays of both indoor and outdoor fitness activities for all ages. Activity experts and class instructors will be available to answer questions and give demonstrations. Evening highlights will also include games for kids, food, and a dance with Duck for the Oyster. Duck for the Oyster is one of the Midwest’s best traditional dance bands and a favorite among both kids and adults. Doors will open at 5:30 pm on November 1st for fitness information, activities, and a light supper. Duck for the Oyster will begin at 7 pm. This free evening of information and activities promises to be fun for the entire family. For more information about Healthier Cumberland or the Winter Fitness Expo, call Jeanette at 419-0774.
